Rajshri Deshpande Breaks Down After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, Says “Mental Pain Was Unbearable”

Actress Rajshri Deshpande recently opened up about one of the most emotionally difficult moments following her breast cancer diagnosis, recalling how she broke down alone after hearing the news. The Sacred Games actress shared that while the diagnosis itself was shocking, it was the mental toll that proved overwhelming.

Speaking about the experience, Rajshri revealed that she initially struggled to process the reality of the situation. After learning about her condition, she found herself alone and unable to hold back her emotions, describing how the mental pain felt unbearable. Despite maintaining strength externally, she admitted that internally, she was dealing with intense fear and uncertainty.

The actress was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma (NOS), a grade 1 breast cancer, which was detected during a routine check-up. She shared that early detection played a crucial role in giving her a fighting chance, allowing doctors to begin treatment at the right time.

Recalling the process, Rajshri said, “I went and the doctors found the lesion. I moved from Aurangabad to Mumbai, met the doctors and got a sonography done again to confirm what it is. After sonography, I did my biopsy and then got the news.”

She further highlighted the stigma surrounding cancer, saying, “Let’s just normalise this! It’s such a taboo that people send condolence-type messages like ‘Oh my God, so sorry’. But nowadays, with the medical facilities, atleast cancer gives you time to take some action.”

Following her diagnosis, Rajshri underwent surgery and is currently recovering. She expressed gratitude for the support she received from loved ones, adding that their encouragement helped her find strength during the challenging phase.

The actress is now using her journey to raise awareness about early detection and encourage women to prioritise regular health check-ups.
